Ester Gum (Glycerol Ester of Gum Rosin)
Glycerol Ester of Gum Rosin ESTERG85, also known as Glyceryl Rosinate, is a slightly yellow, transparent solid made from gum rosin or refined gum rosin through esterification with glycerol. It serves as an excellent tackifying resin.

Staybelite® Ester 10 is the glycerol ester of partially hydrogenated wood rosin. It is a pale, thermoplastic resin with excellent resistance to oxidation and discoloration. It has found wide acceptance as a tackifying resin for many adhesive applications, particularly pressure sensitive and emulsion types. In general, it is useful where there is need for pale, nonoxidizing, and color stable resin.
Applications
- Used in solvent, hot melt, and emulsion adhesives based on thermoplastic and elastomeric materials
- Tackifier in emulsion form for natural rubber, SBR, and neoprene latex in aqueous base adhesives
- Tackifier for natural rubber, SBR, polyisobutylene, and methacrylate resins in industrial tape uses
- Tackifier for surgical tape and in EVA resin-based hot melt adhesives
- Hot melt applied barrier coatings, chlorinated rubber finishes, and various protective coatings compositions
- Component of depilatory wax compounds
